Animal Portraits & Wildlife

About this collection

This collection treats animals the way old portrait painters treated their patrons: a rabbit in a velvet coat, a crowned cat, a fox in uniform, a dachshund with a scholar's air. Alongside them sit quieter wildlife pieces such as a winter deer and a cardinal in snowy pine.

The formal portraits suit a study, a reading corner or a gallery wall with gilt or black frames, where the joke lands best when the framing is taken seriously. The wildlife scenes are softer and sit well in bedrooms and living rooms.

Pet lovers often pair a portrait with their own animal's breed; if you are building a wall, keep the frames consistent and vary the subjects.
